Newly diagnosed, diet and exercise

Hi, I'll be 45 this month and am 100 overweight. My a1c was 7.8. I decided to go strictly with diet and exercise and am interested in finding others doing the same. Anyone doing a paleo or schwarzbein type diet over the ADAs low fat one?
