Hello from Maryland
Hello all. Just signed up with Glucose Buddy and wanted to stop in and say hello to all.
A little about me. I've been a type 2 diabetic since 2006. I had it under control up until the last year. It didn't get that much out of control but it hasn't been controlled like it should. I lost 20lbs and gained all of it back plus an additional pound. My last doctor's visit was better than I thought it would be. My A1c was 7.3 down from 8.2 three months ago. I started working out and watching my carb intake again and I've lost 2lbs in one week. I hope to get back on the right track and stay there this time. I find that being able to talk to people in the same boat helps out a lot. I started out on Metformin XR and as of yesterday I am now on Metformin HCL and Glipizide. The only problem I'm having is my morning (fasting) sugars are way too high (160-190) but I'm in the "normal" range during the day. Hopefully with the exercising and medicine change I can get my numbers in tighter control and get my A1c's back to the 5.0 range. Anywho, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and hopefully find a buddy to chit chat with. Take Care. CMB |

CMBlunt;
Welcome to the Forum! Most of us have been where you are right now. Loose the weight and keep exercising. A thirty (30') minute walk after dinner may help with the morning (fasting) blood sugar. If not then read up on the "Dawn Phenomenon". I hope the information helps. Good luck with your control and management!

Thanks for the welcome Dano. I typically walk/jog for 45 minutes every night after dinner. My doctor seems to think it's the Somogyi Effect... I'm testing at 3am and then at 6am (when I wake up for the day). I am also now taking a 12 week treatment for Vitamin D deficiency.
In the end, I control what I put in my mouth and how much I exercise. I will keep this at bay and I know I can since I've done it before. I look forward to keeping in touch with folks from this forum and learning new things. Take care, CMB |
