Smile Greetings from Oregon

I have been a type 2 diabetic for nearly 20 years. For the first ten years or so, I was a sloppy diabetic and didn't work at really controlling my diabetes as well as I should have. I think I was still in total denial about being diabetic and didn't want people to know about my personal failure. As such my A1C's tended to be in the 8.0 to 9.0 range which my doctor didn't seem to be too concerned about. Later I realized that was bad doctoring and changed my ways as well as finding a new doctor who cared about my numbers. For the past 10 years I have been very tightly control with my A1C's ranging between 5.0 and 5.3 and thankfully after nearly 20 years I still have no apparent diabetic complications. Now, I am very careful about my diet and have lost nearly 60 pounds over the past year by walking 3 miles a day and keeping my calories to about 1100 a day. I eat only fruits, veggies and small amounts of poultry, fish and very lean pork but never beef. At almost 65 I am HEALTHY and enjoying life proving you can still have a great life and be diabetic as well. It's all about choices.
