Default sweets

I have been diagnosed type II a little over a month now. I am eating "right" and my numbers are coming down, but last night I found myself hiding in the bathroom to eat a Twinkie. My husband would have freaked out if he knew!

How do you guys fight the sweet cravings?

Consuming comfort foods is a very common way to cope with stress. Taking steps to control stress can reap big benefits when it comes to controlling cravings. First, make getting eight hours of sleep a top priority to help normalize levels of leptin, a hormone released from your fat cells that influences appetite and cravings. Also, mindfulness mediation is a very simple but effective way to reduce stress and food cravings. A 2013 study published in the British Journal of Health Psychology found that chocolate cravings in college students was reduced after only five days of practicing mindfulness. Another 2014 study found that practicing mindfulness helped people reduce their intake of unhealthy foods presented to them when they were hungry.

I know I've promoted these before, but you should check out Larabars. They are actually good for you and they DO satisfy my sweet-tooth. I also keep watermelon in the fridge, cube it up and tupperware it, so it's easy to snack from.

Stop eating Twinkies, they are cellophane wrapped bags of death (okay, maybe a little too dramatic). Try the Larabars....we are all pulling for you.

"Wilkowicca, GET OFF MY LAWN" -- Clint Eastwood

Actually, while I am also a conservative republican, our similarities end there. Ok, show of hands, how many grown men have cried at the end of Grand Torino? I sobbed like a baby.

Ok punk, make my day....and get me another Larabar!

I am doing so much better! The Twinkie was a momentary lapse of reasoning since then I found the Atkins chocolate snack bar it's low carb/sugar and satisfies my sweet tooth.

Thanks for the responses. It's good to have support.

"The average Larabar contains 20.16 grams of sugar."
