Default morning blood sugars

My morning blood sugars are 160 to 190. No rhyme or reason. I don't eat after 7pm. I work out after dinner for at least 45 minutes. My blood sugar goes down to 125 to 150. I drink about two quarts of water a day. I eat 30 grams of carbs, good ones, with each meal. My snacks are small and healthy and low carb. I'm only on 1000 of metformin and 100 of Januvia. Wouldn't it make sense that if I was on more metformin my morning blood sugars would be lower and therefore the rest of them too because I only go up by 40 to 60 points after meals???? Help. On meds for three weeks and frustrated because I'm doing it right. I also get 9,000 to 10,000 steps in a day at work. Before workout.

Congrats on your exercise routine, nothing wrong with that. Take a look at Dawn Phenomena. Try eating a small snack before bed, a handful of almonds will usually do the trick..

Some people seem to think that the protein in the almonds keeps the body busy and give it a jump start in order to offset the dawn phenomenon.

I used to have that problem as well, and I'm on 1000 mg of METFORMIN as well 2 x's a day. I take my PM dose right before I go to bed around 10 PM. That helped. I also have cut out complex carbs, and legumes. Basically I've started eating Paleo.
No processed foods. My numbers are great after 3 weeks, and I've lost 7 lbs in that time frame. This morning first test 102..and last night before bed 89. This diet has helped me so much. I'll never eat any other way 😃

Drinking some Metamucil helps with the night time blood sugar spikes as well. It also helps make you feel full so you won't want to snack before bed.
