Default Not diagnosed but struggling with sugar issues

I have always had issues with low blood sugar. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my third child (8 years ago). As I get older, it seems my "sugar crashes" are becoming more frequent so I started monitoring my sugar recently. I honestly don't know what my numbers mean but I know that when I feel a "crash" coming on...it's usually around 60. Can I just have occasional crashes without there being an underlying issue? Oh...and no, I haven't gone to the doctor...I HATE going to the doctor.

Welcome to the Forum!

Most information will tell you that a blood sugar less than 70 mg/dl is a hypo event. The best thing to do for a hypo is follow the Rule of 15, which is eat 15 carbs and test in 15 minutes. Good luck with your control and management.

In reply to toe question, I'd like to tell you my experience. I have had blood sugar issues for more than 40 years, starting at age 28 when I was diagnosed with low blood sugar. Then at age 49, with diabetes. That's more than 20 years ago. I'm glad to hear that you are monitoring your BG levels, but if you don't know what those numbers mean they won't help you much. If you aren't already testing 2 hours after you begin eating, start now. That will give you your high numbers. People without diabetes don't usually go much over 140 after meals. If your numbers are often over 160 I would urge you to see a doctor no matter how much you hate to. Continued high readings will damage organs all over the body. Good luck and God bless.
