Default Newly Diagnosed

I've been taking metformin... first week was great, no side effects. then as the days went on i became more and more nauseated to the point of taking the med for 5 weeks, the mere thought of food made me want to hurl. i was honestly sick to my stomach and had stomach pains at night. anyone else experience this? 500mg once a day for a week, then 1000mg a day in two doses

I coudn't take Metformin...It sounds like you need to call your doctor....That are many other meds out there....A lot of people have this problem with Metformin....I am sure your Dr. can prescribe something else...sorry this is such a short post...I was getting ready to head out the door when I saw your post....

I take Metformin once a day with food. It makes my stomach upset and I feel nauseated also. My doctor said this was normal as did the paper the pharmacist gave me. It works for my blood sugar, but I had to refuse the doctors orders about the taking 500mg twice a day.
