Default New t2 Diagnosis, New App

My grandmother, my sister and my brother all have diabetes and I was recently (7 wks) diagnosed with t2 at age 58.

My dr is pretty great because she believes I can put this in remission with diet and exercise.

After my initial meltdown, I have decided to reframe this dx. This is the universe giving me a wake up call about my health.

I just finished my 6th week of working 1/2 hour, 3x a week. I have given up beef, sugar & mayo. I get up at 530-6 now, even on the weekends and I'm out the door at 745. My activity level has increased on the weekends. And in addition to my exercising, I walk to and from work (6 blks each way).

My bs wasn't extraordinarily high, 150s, but I am getting it very close to having it under 120 all the time.

It is a bit hard to eat out but I focus on the fiber as a starting point. It's crazy how bad restaurant food can be when you start looking at it.

Still experimenting with what works for me bc everyone doesn't process everything the same way. I'm sure this isn't everyone's approach, but it's mine.

Welcome to the Forum!

You are so right about eating out. Congrats on your accomplishments thus far.

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.
