Exclamation Hello from 1 Scared Diabetic

Hello All

My name is Stephen and I am 37 Years Old, and I am kinda new here. I started using this program a while ago but never took my diabetes real seriously as the needles and meds where a pain. I went from 300 lbs to 170lbs in 3 months.

I just got out of the Hospital Yesterday which really opened my eyes. I went into Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). My BS was 45.4 mmol/l = 817.2 mg/dl. According to Doctors not only was it attacking my organs but my blood was so acidic it was starting to eat my brain. That is the part that scared me.

So I am going to try to take this alot more serious than I was and I think this form is great as I made need some help and support sometimes.

I like to meet new people so please message me and say hello.

Thanks, GB

Stephen

Welcome to the Forum!

Sometimes we need a wake up call. I am sorry to hear that yours was so drastic. I am glad that you are doing better. Take the "Diabetes Bull" by-the-horns! You can do it! Good luck with your control and management.
