Default A New and somewhat scared member

Hi all. Figured I would say say and become active here. Just had a full set of tests done. Been having liver problems (fatty liver) and just got my 12 fast results of 19.6mmol/l. Haven't got the official read from GP but I am betting on Prediabetes or Type 2.

Any advice would be great.

Welcome to the Forum!

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.

Exercise 20 min every other day for two weeks. Then gradually increase to 20-30 min every day. Blood sugar will drop as you loose weight. Good luck and live longer. Light to moderate exercise is ok

Update: got the official word today. Type 2. Managed to drop my morning reading in five days by 6 points. ( was 19.6(mmol/l Thursday to 13.2 this morning). Will be starting 250mg of Metformin 3 times a day tomorrow. Also have been doing the 20 mins twice a day. I know it's a long road ahead but it's a good start I think. Thank you for the advice. It's been very helpful and I am truly grateful for it.

Default Update Sept 27/13

Ok, so here's the latest.

Aug 12/13 I had a lab BSF of 16.5 and A1c of 11.3.
Sept 27/13 it dropped to a lab BSF of 9.5 and A1c of 8.2.

Well on my way, but I needed to say thank you to those in the forums. Your contributions have played factors in this success.
