High a1c levels
I obtained a result of 10.1% of A1C. I am very nervous about this result. My thought during the last 6 months is that I am in control. But it is not true! Now I breath and my sugar levels increase. I cut off to eat everything, and starving and my sugar levels still 200 mg/l. I observe the sugar levels decrease from 294 mg/l three days ago out of bed to 200 mg/l today. Please let me know what I can eat.

Welcome to the Forum!
You don't need to starve yourself, you just need the right mixture of carbs and exercise. Read the first three thread in the Type 2 Section, they will help you a lot.

There seem to be so many things that affect blood sugar and A1C readings that it can be very discouraging and feel like it's out of control. That's the hardest part of dealing with diabetes for me.
My dietitian told me (a male) I could have 60 grams of carb per meal, and 15 grams per snack. I try to keep below that (say, 40-50 grams for a meal) most of the time. That seems to make a big difference for me. The other thing that I've found is that making sure I get some fiber and protien with the carbs makes a big difference. Having, say, a piece of cheese with a trail mix snack results in a smaller blood sugar rise than having the same number of calories in trail mix alone. Probably the worst thing for me is to skip meals, that actually results in my blood sugar going up, probably because it triggers the body to release sugar in other ways. |
