new to glucose buddy but scared
Im 42 male diagnosed as a type 2 in 2003 when my BG was 212 A1C 11.4. I was put on Meds told to exercise and watch my diet. It worked as my A1C's were in the 5.5-6.5 range until 2011. Has tons of stress did not pay attention to my diet and my A1c in December was 6.7. I was taken off actos and only took januvia.
In April my hands felt like they were swollen every morning as I could hardly make a fist. My fast was 170-200 so I knew it was bad. Went to the doc on may 17 and he put me on janumet 50/1000 once a day. I radically changed my diet, exercised and I have dropped from 228 to 216. My morning fast from may 18-31 was 98-110. Since June 1 it's been 110-120. Much better but not ideal. My 1 hour post meal is 120-145 and 2 hours post is 105-130. My old diet consisted of fast food, starchy foods. 200-300 carbs a day, no exercise, 2000-2500 calories a day. New diet 50-75 carbs a day, exercise, 1400-1700 calories a day. Here is my problem. He told me back in may that the hand issue was the start of neuropathy as the high sugars took their toll. It's been lurking in my mind ever since and driving me crazy. 2 weeks ago, I started getting lightheaded and weird feelings in my hands and feet like tingles and sharp pains. Is it neuropathy or the janumet kicked in and did this to me. I'm a hypochondriac to begin with and I have been totally stressing this constantly thinking of this. My wife is about to kill me and she is not happy i said that i wish i could die to end the misery so its affecting my relationship with her and my two year old. I visit the doc Thursday for blood work and pray I don't hear the "N" word as the pain is annoying. Went to the ER last friday as my dizziness was bad and after a CT scan and bloodwork, the docs told me I was dehydrated due to my exercise and new diet. Any thoughts? If it is neuropathy can I stop it change it reverse it? So scared. My wife and little boy are all I have nd I'm going to lose them because of this disease. Sorry I won't on too long. |

Welcome to the Forum!
Congratulations on the weight loss, exercise and diet changes. You are on the right track. Stress to a person with diabetes is not good. It will make you "sicker". Loose the stress, easier said than done, and self educate yourself on your other conditions. Keep on, keeping on, for your family. Good luck with your control and management.
