Default New to this... Help!

Diagnosed last week of december. Type 2 Had a A1c of 9.8 and a bg of 233. Totally went cold turkey on all snacks / sweets / candys / sugars etc . A lot of veggies in diet along with whole wheat bread and melon balls. Peanut butter crackers for snacks, love fish so I think I'm eating correctly...and carb counting. Here are my numbers from today. Bg first thing in morning was 127., then after dinner tonight ...1 hour was 120, then two hours after was 137. I go to the gym regularly and do one hour of cardio each day, and then one hour of weights. 6 foot 2, 290lbs. Big frame but would want to lose only 50 lbs. Do these numbers seem correct. Can I drop that much in my bg #'s In 4 weeks just by managing the diet. On Metformin 2x a day (500 mg) THANKS GEORGE

Welcome to the Forum!

Actually, your numbers sound (read) much better than many people's that are just starting out. Yes, a healthy diet will make that much difference, along with the gym time. Read the first three threads in the Type 2 Section and do a tag search for "Normal Blood Sugar". This information should get you started with your education, remember that education is the key to beating those T2 numbers down. Loosing just twenty (20 lbs) pounds will make a huge difference in your numbers, as well. Good luck with your control, management and the diet.
