Default Blood spikes

My blood sugar level increase by 3 to 3.5 points 2 hour after taking meals and come back to before meal level after 4 hours after meals. I was wondering if this much spike is normal or bad. I take my medicine just after I finish meal.
For example
Before lunch bg is 7.5
2 hour after lunch bg is 10.8
4 hour after lunch bg is 7.5
6 hour after lunch ( just before dinner) bg is 5.7

This spike exists for all meals
( I may be using different units of measurement)

I am assuming that you are in the UK. Here are the Blood Sugar Levels that we should all try to maintain.

Normal Blood Sugar Levels are:
Fasting: 70 mg/dl (3.89 mmol/l) to 99 mg/dl (5.50 mmol/l)
2 hours after meal: <140 mg/dl (<7.78 mmol/l)

During the Day "Recommended Normal Range":
100 mg/dl (5.56 mmol/l) to 120 mg/dl (6.67 mmol/l)

Therefore in your "example":

"Before lunch bg is 7.5" (Strive for 5.56 mmol/l to 6.67 mmol/l)
"2 hour after lunch bg is 10.8" (Strive for <7.78 mmol/l)
"4 hour after lunch bg is 7.5" (Strive for 5.56 mmol/l to 6.67 mmol/l)
"6 hour after lunch (just before dinner) bg is 5.7" (Strive for 5.56 mmol/l to 6.67 mmol/l). The value for this test is in range, for the most part.

Do you have an exercise routine? Have you read the first three threads in the Type 2 Section? Use of a sensible / nutritional diet and exercise is the best way to beat those numbers down. Good luck, you can do it!

As I could not do exercise because of injured ankle but I have cut down my diet drastically . Eating only on fixed times and no junk foods in between meals. Only a cup of fruits between middle of meal times. Have cut down on coffee and tea (max 3 times in a day) BG is hovering between 4.5 to 8.5 now. Only 2 hour after breakfast is going up as BG before breakfast is around 6.5-7 sometimes. I am trying to fine-tune the breakfast to keep BG down.

One question is that before breakfast BG level is same as before Bed time sometimes little more also. For example
Before bedtime (night) : 7.1
Out of bed (morning) : 6.8 or 7.4

I think if I can control this I will be on target through out the day.

Will keep u posted on all developments.
