Not Very Common Case..
Hello buddies,
I have just found the diabetes 4 months ago but neither I nor my doctor are very sure about which type it is. I was 360mg/dL by the time. 3 months earlier I had made exams and everything was normal, so I know we have discovered the disease in the beginning. I was very heavy, 125kg and 178cm, but I think I am too young to be already with type 2. I have just made 26! On the other hand it seems it is too rare that a type 1 manifested so late. We are awaiting the results of some tests, but in every way I'm trying to do my part through diet and exercises, having already lost almost 30 kg with an average glucose rate of 105mg/dL in the period (A1C = 5.3%)! Anyone have any opinion about my case? I'm trully concerned about it. Thanks a lot!! |

Welcome to the Forum!
The are people younger than you with T2 and there are people older than you with T1. My advice would be to do a little research for your self, until your results come in. Start here. Good luck with your control and management.

Thanks a lot, Danny, I'm gonna check this website.
I didn't even know there was this type 1.5 classification, I'm starting to belive it is more likelly to be mine. The antibodies testes that are missing should be released in two weeks.. Let's see ! Yeah.. Just summaryzing my doubt: Disease came at age 25 -> More likely Type I Emerged abruptly. 100mg/dL to 360mg/dL in 3 months with great thirst and diuresis -> Type I I was very overweight by the time -> Type II Controlled glucose nowadays (80 - 90mg/dL) only with oral medication, diet and physical exercise ; no insulin needed over the past 4 months-> Type II By now, my guess it I'm closer to the 1.5 really. Think I'd prefer be a type II.. =/ Last edited by andreriva; 05-13-2011 at 05:50 PM. |
