Default Type 1

Hi my name is Martin and i have had type 1 Diabetes for 18 years and live in the uk, started on tablets then as condition got worse, went onto insulin.
i have had a roller coaster of a ride,with my levels constantly out of control, have tried different insulins with no great success and different diets, but has i use more insulin my weight increases, Currently doing a lot of testing at different times, in hope, a pattern emerges and my doctor will be able to help and finally get my diabetes under controll. but would appreciate any advise anybody can give me, looking forward talking to people with the same problem.

Martin;

Welcome to the Forum!

Have you tried carb counting?

Good luck with your control and management.

Default Carb Counting

Hi

Nobody has ever suggested carb counting in the years I have been diabetic, is it easy to pick up, and can you direct me where to look.

Thanks For the advice.

Martin

Yes, look at the first two posts in the T2 Section to get an idea. Basically we count the carbs and calculate our bolus insulin dosage based on blood sugar reading before the meal and the amount of carbs consumed during the meal. This approach has made a world of difference in my son's and my control. There is also a thread in the T1 section that I started asking how many people use this method.
