Default T2 Newbe

Hi all, I've been recently dx with T2 diabetes and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Garry I'm 47 and I live in Atlanta, Georgia.
On March 7th I received a phone call from my father in Missouri stating that Little Bill had died of heart problems. Little Bill, 48 lives here in Atlanta and is the son of my folk's best friends. He was dx with T2 diabetes many years ago and early on he never took care of himself. The last few years he did start taking T2 seriously but the damage was already done to his heart. The really sad thing is he was scheduled for a pacemaker implant on March 21, just a few weeks before he died.
This really hit us hard and my wife and I knew I was showing signs of diabetes but I was in denial. My wife convinced me to go to the doctor on Thursday March 10th and was immediately hospitalized with BG of 664 and an A1C of 12.5. They were able to get my BG down and I was released Saturday afternoon March 12th. I'm on Lantus at night and NovoLog before each meal along with high blood pressure and triglyceride medicines.
I'm committed now to take better care of myself. I've got four children and two grandchildren and a loving wife that need me healthy!
