On Twitter (for those of you folks who aren’t on Twitter), there’s this thing called Follow Friday. Basically, you’re supposed to list all the people you think other people should follow. The only problem is, because there’s only 140 characters to work with, most people don’t actually tell you WHY you should follow any of these folks so sometimes it’s a bit of a mystery when you click on their name and it’s Fred from Accounting.

OK, I lied. I’ve never seen a Fred from Accounting on Twitter but I’m sure he’s there if you looked hard enough.

Anyway, I thought, why not do Follow Friday on my blog? It’ll give me a chance to really highlight some of my favorite people on the Internet right now and, who knows, maybe win a few brownie points that will secure my place in bloggie heaven (no relation to doggie heaven).

Gala Darling (@galadarling): It took me a little while to warm up to this chick, a New Zealand-born, now New York City resident. She’s flamboyant (but not gay), effervescent and puts me to shame in the bubbling optimism department. All this month she is talking about Radical Self-Love, which is totally a movement I’m behind. The girl is a pro-blogger, which basically means she gets to do a ton of cool shit and get paid for it. She also vaguely reminds me of one of my best friends from high school.

Gretchen Rubin (@GretchenRubin): This woman wrote a book about how to be happy. Clearly, I am a fan. I haven’t read her book yet – it just came out, cut me some slack – but I’ve been perusing her blog for some time now and she always has some quirky and totally insightful ideas on how to improve happiness. It’s awesome. And who couldn’t use a little bit more happiness in their life?

The Simple Dollar (@trenttsd): I’m a huge fan of personal finance bloggers. I read about a dozen but one of my favorite is The Simple Dollar by Trent. It’s diverse, informative and deals with all kinds of issues. I love the reader mailbag that he does about once a week. If you’re trying to get inspired and motivated to do well with your finances, Trent is definitely someone that you should follow.
