39 y pregnant female w type 2
Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised and also mortified at the recent news that I'm pregnant. This is my first pregnancy. Being already advanced maternal age and D2 for quite some time now, my sugars were completely uncontrolled irresponsibly and regrettably so. Luckily I found out I was pregnant around week 4 and quickly contacted an Endo to straighten out my 300+ sugar levels with lots and lots of insulin. My OB and Endo are both in shock about my A1C at a whopping 12.4. Of course guilt and disappointment in my poor lack of concern toward my BG levels has me extremely depressed about my baby's successful growth and delivery. This should be a joyous time for me...yet I'm seriously downtrodden over the damage I may have done to myself and my child. From the day of the + sign on my pregnancy test my life took a 180 degree turn with medicine, diet changes, and exercise. As of today, I've worked extremely hard to keep my sugar under 100, and checking it over 10 times a day until properly managed. I found this application through my I-phone in an attempt to keep a more accurate log for myself, my diabetes coaches, and my doctors. It will be one of the most important logs and I hope to gain much from it. |
