Hello! Type 1, 20 years old
Hello there.
Got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes yesterday after feeling some of the symptoms (blurred vision, always thrsty etc.) over the past few days. Strangely enough my 12 year old sister was diagnosed also with type 1 diabetes 11 weeks ago and when she was in hospital I got my blood sugar levels tested and all was fine. She has given me so much confidence in seeing how brave she is and how little she has let it effect who she is even at the age of 12. Anyway so here I am starting to learn all of these new words and abbreviations. I have a fantastic family (both parents are doctors and older sister is in her 3rd year of medicine at university). I thought that an iPhone app would make this all easier to track and so after reading some reviews downloaded this one but am confused about a lot of the acronyms and what I should be entering in. Other than that I just wanted to say hello to everyone here. Thanks, Pete (20, Manchester, England) |

Welcome to the Forum Pete!
Your family will be able to help you alot, I always advise people to read and learn all they can about their condition. That being said, there are two threads in the T2 Section that may help you as well. Take a look at Blood Sugar 101 and Carb Counting 101, if you get a chance. Good luck with your new (D) friend and good luck with your control & management!
