Default Brand new parents to 11 month old T1D

Hi, we are new here! Just got home from spending a week in hospital after our 11 month old baby boy was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes!

We have a lot to learn, and have done our best not to see this as a death sentence for our darling! We hope to hear from other parents who's baby was diagnosed around the same age as our boy!

We have been home three days and our biggest challenge so far is to keep him out of the midnight lows!

Where to from here? Our dr didn't discuss carb counting per say... We had a dietitian come in and give us dietary guidelines but they don't specifically discuss carb counting!?

We have a million questions but for now hope to make some T1D friends who can show us the light at the end of this very dark tunnel!

Parents of a new, and very young, Type 1 Warrior.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't have any experience with a child that young, but I'm sure that many others here do and maybe they will chime in soon.

Look for a T1 Diabetes Support Group in your area. People going through the same thing that you are, can share worlds of information.

Good luck with the war and your warrior's control and management.
