Default Sudden raise in morning blood reading

I was doing just fine with the fbg, on average 110's and 120's ever since being told I have T2, which I find manageable. About a month ago, I was taken off Tricor. I've read where Tricor doesn't really do anything one way or the other concerning low or high blood readings, but I'm not too sure. Two days after I stopped taking Tricor I started to get fbg numbers in the 140's to 170's and they haven't gone down. Then I had to have a tooth removed and my numbers are still high. I've talked to my doctor and he put me on 2 metformin 500mg in the morning and one at night (had been taking one twice a day). Been a T2 for 2 years now. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Cj

You may want to check to see when you are eating last. I try to eat before 7pm and not have anything else until breakfast. After a consult with a nutritionist she indicated that I should have small snack before bed to keep the liver from creating to much insulin, which could cause your levels to be increased in the morning.

Just something to think about...good luck!!

Default Dawn Syndrom

Hello,
I was reciently diagnosed with T2, I am still working on getting my BG down to a normal number from about 477. I spike every morning to about 210, (durring the day am running from 140-about 160) I have tried eating a celery stick with peanut butter before bed, but that didn't work that well. Then I tried a half cup of mixed nuts. That has worked best so far, but I am still in the 160-170 range. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to eat or do? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. My doctor put me on 3-500mg of Metformin (was taking 2) and it help a little, but not enough for my satisfaction. I do eat little before I go to bed, usually nuts, things like that. There's no difference in the morning. I will continue to plug away and keep it from going any higher. Oh, I exercise for 90 minutes 3x a week and an hour to others days except for Sunday. No exercise on Sunday, love it! Thanks friends. Cj

Default Metformin and Dawn Syndrome

Metformin can take several weeks to fully kick in and the most common side effects are digestive issues but they should clear up over time. Not sure if the doc explained it but Metformin causes the liver to cut back on the glycogen that it puts into your system when your sugar gets low. That's one of the main causes for high bg fasting readings in the morning.

I'm on 2000mg of Metformin a day. 1000mg with breakfast and 1000mg with supper. My standard fasting numbers now are in the 80's or 90's.
