Default pre-diabetic

This is all new to me. I was wondering why my fasting blood sugar is high. All day I am fine. The mornings I am high.

It's called dawn phenomenon. Here's a discussion of it.

I don't know that eating carbs in the evening (one of their suggestions), but I'm curious about the vinegar suggestion.

I have at least a mild version of it and am just starting to play around to see what I can do to minimize it. Last night I kept a non-carb snack by my bed, which I ate on one of the times I woke up during the night. My BG was 112 this morning - on the low side for me. I may try the vinegar thing. It can't hurt . . .

(This is new to me personally, although I've lived with diabetic family members since the late 60s.)

Welcome to the Forum!

Take a look at Dawn Phenomenon.

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.

Many people find that eating a handful of almonds before going to bed helps with the dawn phenomenon.

Thanks. I tried that with pecans (just because that was a nut I had on hand). That didn't help. Eating a snack in the middle of the night was closer. But I'm just starting to experiment.

I am in the exact same boat..
I have pcos.. and I been pre diabitic for years.. But just recently I purchased a monitor and watching my reading..( not good).

Doctor tells me anything over 100 for fasting is bad? true?

a lot of people tell me thats not true? just curious.

I just lost almost 30 lbs.( past 3 months) and I have about 25 more to go. . and my Sugar readings seem to be worse.. also just put on a higher blood pressure pill.. So i am wondering if that has anything to do with it..

My readings seem to be good all day too. just high in the morning. Here is the catch I almost take in NO sugar.. NO caffeine.. and still So I am not sure if there is anything i can do.. I follow a low carb diet.. 1200 calories and under 20 grams of carbs.. under 15...
Greens, Chicken, Eggs and cheese.

So My goal is to get that fasting levels down too!!
