How do diet drinks affect type 2 diabetes? Good option in moderation?

Most people find that diet drinks don't have an effect on their blood sugar. I try to drink water with meals whenever possible.

I drink diet drinks and it does not effect my blood sugar. I do know that some studies suggest that the diet drink additives and preservatives are not good for our bodies. I stay with the clear diet drinks and also try to stay with stevia not aspartame or Splenda sweeteners.

Diet drinks may not raise sugar in the immediate sense, but they are not real food and the artificial sweeteners cause inflammation and gut bacteria die-off, which degrades your immunity and in the long run contributes to diabetes and other types of metabolic disregulation related to a host of autoimmune diseases.
