fasting numbers are 108-112!
Seems like no matter what I try my morning numbers are always between 108-112. My numbers all day are between 110-127. I've tried no snack before bed and get the higher 112, I've tried 1/2 whole wheat English muffin toasted w/ PB and a 6oz glass almond milk and got 108, I even tried 2 s'mores before bed( was @ a bonfire lol ) and got the112again. Any body else have this problem and or a possible solution? Thank u

K nobody replied so I've been doing research. Most answers point to not having a snack after dinner or a snack with the right carb/protein ratio. Most people suggested 1/2cup reg. vanilla ice cream w/nuts so that's what I'm trying tonight! Hopefully it works miracles n I can eat ice cream I would b one happy momma, will let all the viewers know what happens

Still not sure what to do, it does seem like the earlier in the day I eat dinner and have a snack the better
|

Doc put me on glyburin, she said there's not much u can do for consistent high fasting #s except go on meds, at least I know I didn't go something wrong and can hopefully stop stressing about it now.

How long after snacking do you test? I've read that oftentimes, people test ten hours or later after snacking and it is too long for your body to go without food so it releases glucose that makes your fasting numbers high. The ideal fasting duration for some ( not all ) people is eight to nine hours.

I was told to test my fasting 6-8 hours after last meal. This is my first official day of testing, and I'm not off to a good start. Dinner was finished by 6:30 and I didn't have a snack, and did my fasting test 12 hours later and got a reading of 102....tonight I'm going to have a 10:00 snack before bed and test at 6 tomorrow morning and see if there's a difference. if you eat a high fat or high protein dinner, the carbs will take much longer to absorb which can affect your "fasting" (at least 8 hours of no eating) BG. eat a balanced dinner, with NO before bed snack and I guarantee your fasting numbers will be lower. also, there's not much difference between 108 and 112. you ever test your BG one right after the other? 4pts is nothing... I know this from calibrating my continuous glucose monitor... the first calibration takes TWO BG readings... the first and second can be up to 10pts off.... it's not an exact science and BG is constantly changing... this is just a snap shot of THAT moment. and I wouldn't be so worried about a fasting 112mg/dL but of course, talk to your Dr about that.

My fasting has been high also. My dietitian told me to have a high fiber snack before bed but I was still 115. Numbers are good throughout the day so I'm not worried.

I was told the same thing today at my apt. My readings Are high only when fasting 108-135 the highest and my doctor said I will probably need to take medication. This worried me a little because I'm only 14 weeks but I will be seeing my endocrinologist soon. Good luck!

I had high fasting #s too and you won't believe what helped mine. I got to eat, are you ready for this? An ice cream snickers bar before bed. Then 8 hours later my levels would be at 90- where as without that snack and a more healthier option, put me above 110 everytime!
