Training For New Supervisor
I just got promoted to branch supervisor *takesabow* I now have 5 staff to supervise and I’m very excited to work with them. These people are joy to work with and very supportive of me when I got my promotion. I’ve been self studying to better improve my supervisory skills and reading articles like this http://highperformanceleadership.blo...-training.html encourages me to ask the company manager if I could undergo supervisory training. Do you think it’s too much to ask because I just got promoted? I need your recommendations.

Absolutely not too much to ask! In fact it is good insurance for your manager that you are knowledgeable about how to be a good supervisor. You want to minimize any risk to the company by ensuring that you are knowledgeable about HIPPA compliance, Worker's Comp., sexual-harassment, employee assistance, etc. My job required a full week long class and provided me with a three inch thick binder of info. Good for you and congrats!

It’s good to know that someone here can relate to me. I feel like I need to equip myself with this new task of mine because I am sure that there will be issues that I will have to address and nothing in my experience as an ordinary employee can prepare me for that. I have sent a formal letter request to the boss and I’m just waiting for management’s decision. Thank you so much for replying.

Just an update, my request was approved and I did it I had a week training and I learned so much from it and made new friends also. We were given some tools from HRDQ and it was all very helpful. I'm glad my company manager supported me on this, big thanks to Mr. Johnson

We recently purchased a customer service training tool for our staff from HRDQ and our management seems to be satisfied and happy with it.
