I like Bojangles 3 piece wing dinner, I used to eat all three wings and the biscuit, now I only eat one. You satisfy your desires occasionally and do a little extra exercise. Maybe 2 miles instead of one.

Be careful I Was on metformin for many years and it worked very well. Unfortunately one of the side effects is kidney damage after long or excessive use. Dr. took me off over a year ago when my creatine levels started to climb. Rather control with Glipizide, diet & exercise rather than dialysis.

We cheat because we are used to it but suddenly needed to cut it out.

I'll admit that I cheated a little during the holidays. I was careful by only having one cookie on Christmas, even though I wanted a couple more. Only caused a small spike in my BGL.

Has anyone heard of the 4 hour diet? When I saw the name of this thread it made me think of it. There's much more to it but one thing they discovered is that if a person is trying to lose weight and live healthier they should give themselves one (1) cheat day per week and pig out. It fixes the metabolism and u keep the weight off in the long run. Thus helping with health issues like diabetes. Just search the web for the four hour diet. The book is good and there are videos on YouTube. The guy who created it spent a crap load of money and pursued the answers for over a decade. His story and the diet are fascinating.

Alright, let's just get this out of the way, first and foremost. Some of you...maybe alot of you...may think this is a sick thing to do, but I found out yesterday I wasn't the only one to do this.
And to be absolutely, hand-on-the-Bible honest about it, I've only done it once.
Had a huge craving for a fresh, homemade, chocolate chip cookie the other day. I put it in my mouth, chewed it, savored the great flavor....and then I just spit it out! In a napkin. I felt I got the flavor I was craving, and THAT was what I wanted. Not thinking this will lead to some deep psychological problem, like bulimia, so I might do it again.
I confided this to a nurse I work with she admitted doing it several times!
Hey, if it works, and it's not hurting myself, I'm open to trying it.
Thoughts? Weird? Anyone else?

Why would you cheat on Diabetes? If the chocolate spikes your blood sugar Diabetes has no relationship with cheating - you spike you spike.

When I was first diagnosed the one thing I realized right away is this is a life threatening disease, not a fad diet where I can say, "oh, I'll be good tomorrow".

Every day and every bite counts. Blood levels don't lie and so on.

Not advisable IMHO
