Default Weight loss

Hi, there! I am 29.5 weeks pregnant. This is my 3rd pregnancy. My first two pregnancies were without GD. I started at a certain weight when I was diagnosed with GD. I went to a nutritionist a week later. I followed her "diet." I lost 4 lbs the first week and 3 lbs the next. Is that normal? My family says that I shouldn't worry bc my belly looks ok & that I'm losing the weight from my own body. Has anyone gone through this?

Yes, it is very normal. When you cut back on carbs, you will lose weight. You are probably eating much healthier and it's a good thing.

Completed my second pregnancy with GD. (baby is healthy, my diabetes is on decline, though taking sometime). With my diet I lost weight during second trimester & now 2 weeks after delivery i am finally back to my weight 10 years ago. I plan to keep this healthy carb free diet to maintain this weight & keep diabetes off!

Oh, Rausa that is wonderful!! I'm also planning to keep this diet after my baby is born. I'm looking forward to going back to the gym. I'm not thinking of getting a crazy about it, though. I just want that ugly diabetes to stay away!! I've been maintaining my levels so I think I'm doing good so far.

Very normal. I gained very little weight after following the GD diet and after delivery I weighed less than when I got pregnant. My baby was born at a very healthy 7 lbs 6 oz.

I have lost 14 pounds since I got pregnant. I gained 3 back when I found out I had GD and since then I have lost those 3 pounds. The baby is gaining though and that is what matters.

As long as baby is doing ok and your dr isn't concerned, I think you're fine.

I strongly recommend something like the SANE diet by Jonathan bailor. (Closest thing I've found go what I was doing during my first and now second pregnancy) It's a way to change eating not just diet. Look up carriebrown.com for some awesome recipes.
