Post Inset cells not producing enoug insulin

The inset cells located in the pancreas are not producing enough insulin, as opposed to type II in which the cells are not absorbing enough sugar.

There are many reasons why the inset cells are not producing enough insulin. One reason is that there are not enough inset cells. This may be a genetic abnormality as in Juvenile diabetes or a disease or surgery has either removed or diminished the capacity of the inset cells. Another reason is that there are adequate number of inset cells but they have either died and not replaced or their ability to produce insulin has been impacted by external factors.
