Default Diabetics and vision problem

Hello, all. I am new here. My mum who is 80+ is under medicines for diabetics. It was last year end that she was diagnosed with diabetics. She is not having a proper vision now. I ignored it in the beginning. It is the third month that my mum is facing such an issue. And it is high to take precautionary measure for this I know. One of my friend whose father had the same trouble spoke to me last day. He said that diabetics can be a reason for this. I am confused now. I have already fixed an appointment at Valley laser eye centre at Toronto for a check up. But I am totally confused now. Will it be good to take mum for an eye check up? Or will her diabetics Doc would be enough for her need at this situation? What should I do? Does anyone here got any experience of this sort? Can anyone here give me a suggestion at this?
