Default This will depend on you.

I think what you can eat will depend on how your body reacts to it. I cannot eat strawberries without seeing a spike, but pineapple does not spike me at all. I can eat oatmeal but not rice. Go figure. I have not tried watermelon yet.

I think we should remember that NO TWO diabetics are alike....each person has a different body chemistry, and although there are general food guide lines, such as reducing white flour, sugar, pasta, too much fruit, etc., there is only ONE way to see what YOU can eat. Use your meter. Take a test before eating something, then test in 1 hour after, the 2 hours after. You will SEE what the food is doing for YOU. Don't relyon what other people can do, we are all invidividuals.

So it is not much use in asking whether strawberries or melon, or pineapple are the best. THey may be for some people, or maybe just one of them will work for some. Only way to find out is to test. That is what we have meters for, to check out what we can eat.

It can be overwhelming at first, but once you can establish some foods which are good for you, it gets easier as time goes by. Every time you eat a new food, test it again, to see how it goes. I don't have to check foods so much now after 20 odd years, but still check my BG at least 5 times a day to keep tabs on pre and post meal numbers, and if I need to make any corrections in my insuline regimen.

Cheers, Joan
