FNG is Me
Greetings,
I come in peace and all that other rot that I guess I should express. I was diagnosed 6/12/12 which ain't exactly 666 but close enough. I'm told I am not too bad as far as being Diabetic goes--YAAAY! I'm also a 13 year Hodgkins survivor and chasing an acting career. Let's see...what else? I am blind in one eye and look like an aging pirate. I have managed to drop about 15 pounds since being diagnosed--due to no longer being able eat what I prefer to eat! And getting enough blood from my finger for a reading is still hard to do. That is my big gripe. My fingers aren't bleeders. |

Welcome to the Forum! Do your wear the eye patch and end your sentences with aarrhhh? Congratulations with the weight loss.
Eventually you will get used to the finger prick. You could try washing your hands with warm to hot water, to get the blood flowing, and don't forget the soap. Look for a finger pricker with a small gauge pricker. There are several on the market and they hurt less, just in case you can't stand the pain. Read the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, they will help you with your journey. Good luck with your control and management.

Coyotejohn,
Arrrrrrrr Matey! You'll get more blood from that finger if you use a bigger sword! I've had to set my lancet to the deepest penetration in order to consistently get blood. Sometimes it hurts like the beejeesus when I poke myself. A couple times I've apparently hit something significant, and had blood spray all the way up to my shoulder. Arrrrr! |
