What is the best/ most inexpensive health insurance for type 1 diabetics? I desperately need to see a doctor. I go to a free clinic and haven't been to an endocrinologist in over 6 years.

I feel for you! I'm dealing with the same issue. As for me I used to go to a free clinic and I only paid 25 dollars for my insulin, the. I got married and my husband and I made to much money so I went under my husbands insurance, but I now have to pay $600 for a 3 month supply of my insulin, mind you that isn't including testing supplies and needles and many other items a diabetic needs. It's insane I also contacted the insulin company to see if they had any programs and they do but you have to be over 50 or on medical so that left me back at square one as I am 26. My husband and I are in a loss right now, I've been getting my meds from my mon who is diabetic and she tells her doctor she takes more insulin, so that way her doctor gives her more insulin so that way she can help her daughter out. I wish you luck and I hope one day insulin won't cost a arm and leg to get, when we have to have this medicine to live. It's just sad! Thanks for listening to my venting

Go me, I'm in the military with T1 lada and don't pay a thing. At least until they med sep/retire me then i have to down grade to syringes and pay for my own test strips.

I found insurance for 176 a month through pcip. It's especially for people with pre existing conditions. It's the cheapest I have found.

I don't know what your income level is, but have you looked into Medicaid programs in your state. In NY, I believe there are Family & Child Health Plus HMO programs that work with Medicaid. You may qualify for some assistance. The plans vary by state, but check your local state's government website.

Additionally, you may be able to claim some of the non-covered expenses on your taxes. I believe your medical expenses have to be a large percentage of your overall income to qualify for a tax deduction, but it's worth looking into.
