My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 3 weeks ago, she is 5. She has been AMAZING through all of it. We try to keep juice on hand (15 carb boxes) for filling in when she gets full too early. We also have a drawer of carb free snacks. We also have stressed that if our daughter eats without asking it could make her feel yucky and get sick. We also try to allow her to have as much control as possible over what she eats, where she pokes, and giving shots. It is hard, but we are slowly getting into a routine. Knowledge is power in this situation, and we have tried to educate our daughter as fully as possible and allow her the opportunity to educate her classmates and teachers (with a parent filling in where neccessary) I hope this helps, I know how hard it is. My daughter says the delica lancets are the best, and we use reli-on 31 gauge 8mm needles and the only place that hurts is backs of arms. Good luck on your new journey!

hello! im only 14, but i ised to be in the same position. currently im on novolog and lantus as well and its a lot better. (considering i was previously on novolog and levemir) i know having only a little amount of carbs wouldnt seem too too bad. however, depending on what your daughter is eating and the time of day, will
still bring her numbers up a lot, as you can see! foods like pasta, bread, and bagels seem to really do that, even if its just a little bit. other foods like vegetables, juice, or fruits are only temporary, we'll bring you up, and then they'll fall back again since its usually natural sugars. hope i didnt get too off topic, and i hope i helped! |
