Default new diagnosis- COLD all the time now

Hello! My boyfriend of 6 years just got diagnosed type 2. He's 29 years old and was having excessive thirst and urination, so he went to his doc. Random bs test was 484, a1c was 9.5, so he got put on Metformin 500mg 2x/day. We have completely changed the way we eat and what we eat and now his meter reads 110-160 usually (pre-meal).

So here's our question: lately he has been feeling cold. Like freezing, can't get warm cold, all the time. He's not sweaty or clammy, so I don't think his bs reading is was down hypoglycemic, but we are wondering if anyone else experiences the same. He has a doc appt in two weeks and is going to ask the doc too, but I figured someone might have a similar experience.
Thanks!

Is Metformin the only drug that he is taking?

Was he spilling Ketones when he was diagnosed?

Take a look at this WebSite.

If his doctor was not an Endocrinologist, you may want to get a second opinion.

Thanks for the reply! I don't believe his doc checked for ketones, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he did have ketones in his urine.
I checked out the website... Lots of good info, thanks. Just wondering, though, what were you thinking that the coldness had to be from? Thanks!

Has he been checked for kidney infection? That is one of the first things that I thought when I first read the post.

Well I had/have the same symptoms. Not sure why, doc doesn't seem to be concerned. It is better than it was. I do know from reading and research that burning carbs creates a lot of heat in the body, not a good thing since that creates free radicals. Exercise seems to help me. I have had lots of blood work from kidney to thyroid and all were OK. Could possibly be just takes your system a while to adjust to major shift in carbs level in the blood. Best of luck.
