carb counting books
Please let me know what the best resource is for carb counting especially as it relates to combined meals like casseroles etc and tips on estimating and for what it's worth it is for a one year old who is just transitioning from babyfood which was easy to count to real foods

I don't have any of the carb counting books. I have been told that the best books, on counting carbs, can be obtained from a nutritionist. I would try a google search to find these on line as well. I am sure that portion size would be difficult to calculate for a one year old. I would suggest that you find and purchase a good food weight scale.
I can offer the following: WebSites: Coheso CalorieKing iPhone Apps: MyNetDiary I hope that the information helps.

Hey bryynbowen, I have the perfect book for a fellow Type 1 like yourself. The Carb Counting book I use at home is called "The Calorie, Carb and Fat Bible 2010". This is the 2010 version that I borrowed from my Diabetes Nurse. I'm not sure if there is a. 2011 version but you can have a look. They are available on Amazon and they shouldn't be too expensive. -Mark
