Default Please help

I was diagnosed with prediabetes. And have to keep a food/blood sugar diary til next dr appt.

Yesterday i got a headache around 2:30, so I took fioricet after eating. It went away for about an hour, but came back worse. Around 6:30 pm I started feeling nauseated and my head was pounding. I tested my blood sugar as soon as I got home (7pm) and it was 76 (usually around 86-97 for me). I laid down with a cold rag on my head to try to get the headache to go away. At 7:25 I started vomitting stomach acid. Around 9:30 I was vomitting brown liquid and a lot of it. I did this til the early morning hours. My head continued to hurt. I got up this morning at 7 am and my blood sugar was 119 (highest it has been), then 97 at 10 am. I still have this headache.

I have never vomitted brown liquid before like I did last night. Would this have anything to do with my sugar level and headaches? Do I need to go to ER/dr? Or could it have been just a virus? Im just worried, but don't want to overact. Thanks!

Kimberly

Kimberly;

Sorry you are not feeling well. It kinda sounds like a bug. If you are in doubt or it doesn't get better in a day or two, please by all means see your doctor. The brown liquid is stomach bile (acid) used to digest food. If it is gone it means that your stomach is completely empty and the "dry heaves" would be next. Some say that eating a little yogurt when you feel better will help the body replace this. The blood sugar goes up with sickness and infections. It is just part of the bodies defense mechanism. There is not much you can do about this, its just part of it.

See your doctor now, it may be no problem or it may be something that can be solved with mess. Don't wait, it is not normal to puke brown stuff. But don't freak out either, just get a doctor to see you so you KNOW what it is.

It sounds to me like your sugar levels are normal. I don't know about the brown vomiting, I would contact your primary care physician
