Default Hi! new to the forum

But not to diabetes.. Names Tom and I am 41. Been T1 for about 12 years with bad control. My friend is on a pump and I would love to switch, so my doc said ok if I test and control for 90 days and get my A1c down..
So far I am doing better with using glucose buddy. It makes testing fun because my friends and I share results and compete.
My worst low was my girlfriend finding me on the kitchen floor and when the emts treated me i went bezerk and beat up all 3 of them and hit a cop. I remember none of this untill waking up in the er handcuffed..
Pardon my typing and grammer, i am using my ipod right now.
But thats most of my D story except some neuropothy in my toes.

Tom;

Welcome to the Forum!

I wish you well in your pumping endeavor. Are you currently counting carbs and bolus dosing for the meal?

I just today got the app for GB for calories and carbs.. As a hiker, kayaker and rockclimber it shouldn't take me long to loose what i gained over the winter. Keeping it off in winter is tough.
Just hoping that a pump will be easier to deal with on my trips and climbs. So far GB has gotten me alot closer to good control!

Good luck with getting on the pump, Tom! I bet you will find it easier on trips and climbs. I've been on a pump for 15 years now and you couldn't pay me to switch back. It makes things sooo much easier and a lot more convenient. Not to mention only one "injection" every three days means less supplies to carry, even with back-ups. I hope all goes well and you get that pump soon!

Smiles,
Jenny

I downloaded GB several weeks ago to my iPad and love the ease of using it to log my blood checks. Does anyone or has anyone found a good product for tracking carb intake? I like to nibble in the evenings and I am also a picky eater. I need to count carbs. I am on a sliding scale for my Humalog.

So far the MyNetDiary App is the best free app that I have found. Be sure to turn on carbs in the settings. If you eat out much the Restaurant App is a good for most restaurants in the US.
