My son was diagnosed in June 2010. Very new to this whole thing. He is only seven. Constantly adjusting his carb ratio and sliding scale. Hoping his numbers level off as they are mostly high and usually has some lows too. They say he is in the honeymoon. Hoping it gets easier. DC

Read and learn all you can. It gets easier for you and him in time. Everything should stabilize after the honeymoon period. I wish you and your son good fortune.

My son is 9 and was diagnosed in may 2010. We are still dealing with some highs and trying to get him on the right amount of insulin is your son on mixtard 30 .

The honeymoon can get frustrating, but keep open communications with your diabetes team and you will get through it just fine.

My mazie now 8 being diagnosed 4 years it will come as easy as breathing in time don't dispare , lantus / nova rapid does well never above 7.5 on visits to hospital for the blood cook .
Remember test worth nothing if not left 2 hours or a bit more, cold flu's you will never control it,routine is the key . And once they get a feel for it you can fly closer to the wind, we have had a great team from booth hall now at the new Manchester uk childrens hospital all the best and if I can be of help pls contact me Joseph.butler3@btinternet.com I felt like world fell apart when she was 1st diagnosed , yes read and read alot but remember some info is out dated if they follow the regime and lead a healthy lifestyle there lives will be no different than anybody's .there are a few horror stories out there but there is always a reason and it will involve not following the regime.now god forbid the new cases of diagnosis have lept there are a few kids in each school so they don't feel on there own and neither are you !! , Its your new job !! to treat your child as your best livestock god bless Joe B
