A1c
Pardon me while I cry a little. I have been watching everything I eat, walking lots more, testing 5 times a day. According to my numbers I totally thought that I would get back an a1c well under 7. 2 months I have been at this, so either that first month was so incredibly high it brought the a1c up significantly, or I was way, way off. I was expecting a low 6- I got a 7.2.
This, incidentally is with following a nutritionists plan, and I really thought, based on over 300 tests in the last 2 months, that things were going well. This was first a1c so I have nothing to compare to. |

The A1c lab test generally mimics the data from your last 90 days of blood sugar tests. The higher numbers, that you got from the lab test, are most likely from the higher blood sugars in the first part of the 90 days. If you want to check your current progress, just bring up your 30 day graph from the GB website and look at the average blood sugar. Take that average number and plug it into this link. If you can keep that average up for the next 60 days then your next A1c should be in that range.

I know- based on that I thought it would be a lot lower. Not low low, as I know that first month that I do not have data for would count against me, but lower than 7.2! I am wondering if I am going higher than I think durring the night when I am generally not testing.

I know that you probably already know this, but the only way to confirm or deny your suspicion is to test at night.

I know, and I have a few times, but the truth is, even setting a loud alarm is not enough when I am pregnant to get me up middles of the night. When I did do it, it was high ish (I am a big dawn syndrom person apparently) but still not 7.2 high.

I know it is tough to get up. Good luck with beating that number down, you can do it!
