Default Anyone Heard of this Dreamfields Pasta?

My mother-in-law saw this while shopping and bought me a box shortly after I was diagnosed. I was doubtful, to say the least. How could a box of pasta that is 56g of carbs per serving end up being only 5g? I asked my endochrinologist and she gave me the same advice she's given me since the start: test it out. Her stance is that everyone is different and reacts differently to every food- you never know how you'll react until you try.
So, I tested my blood sugar, boiled the pasta, poured on some sauce, ate it (tastes exactly the same as regular pasta) and tested again two hours later. The results? It works. My blood sugar went up as much as it would have if i'd eatten a dinner with NO carbs. I was shocked, but thrilled.
I don't claim to know how it works. According to the label you lost 5g of carbs due to the high fiber, but the rest are the result of a secret formula wherin carbs are "protected" from digestion and therefore not absorbed. The dieticians don't know how it works but i'm proof to say that it does.
So, if you're in that dreaded pasta ailse and you see that black box that claims to only have 5g of carbs per serving believe it. It actually works and it tastes just the same so you can enjoy all the same pasta dishes you used to without ending your bloodsugar through the roof.

Interesting! Are you a Type 1 or Type 2?

Can you tell us the pasta brand's name?

Matt;

I believe that the OP is speaking of the Dreamfields Brand. It has been mentioned in the Wheat Pasta Alternatives thread.

It is good to see you back!

Default Be careful with this product!

Hi All,

I just wanted to pass on my experiences with this product. You need to be very careful when preparing this product. If you overcook it you can destroy the chemical bond of the "protected" carbs and have a major BG spike after that. You won't know you broke the bond until after you've eaten it and get the spike. I've also noticed, by accident, that while my two hour after number was very good, my three hour number was quite high, almost like It had a delayed impact on my BG.

Hope this is useful to others,
Ken
