New to Diabeties
Hi all. My name is Bill and I have recently been dx with type II. There is so much information out there I don't really know where to begin... My A1C level was at 14.1 and I had a BG of 586... I have changed my diet a lot and it has been 2 months on my meds and diet... With my work schedule it's hard to exercise but I try. Now I have been able to get my BG down to avg. 100. It really can get you down, but I must push on. Hope to chat with all of you.

Bill;
Welcome to the Forum! Congratulations on your accomplishments thus far! Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.

Hey Bill, keep up the good work...I know exercising can be challenging, but even a quick 10 minute walk after you eat lunch will help to keep your blood down...you don't have to work up a sweat, just a little movement. Sounds like you're on the right track. also, I know I've said this before, but if you have a sweet tooth, LARABARS are very good for you, they have very little sugar/carbs and they actually taste pretty good! also, avoid diet drinks, while they may not have calories/carbs, they are full of sweetners that are not really good for you.
Glad to see your A1c come down, that was pretty high! We are all in this together! also, when they test your blood, make sure they test your free testosterone. Mine was low (as a 51yr old) and this can attribute to your high blood as well (if it's low). Clint. |
