I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 and immediately put on metformin. I have read that I need to be on an Omega3 and that Alpha Lipoic Acid would help tremendously too. I feel like the medical community does not want us to do natural supplements but I don't know who to trust! Any friendly advice would help.

My doctor recommends Omega 3. Just don't get the cheapest crap out there, he said. I think there is real science behind that one. The other one I haven't heard of. Anyway my doctor isn't big on herbal type stuff. He won't even recommend vitamins unless my blood panel says I need it.

My doc just recommends a multiple vitamin. I also take vitamin d because blood test shows I'm chronically low. Studies are showing that, for the most part, supplements are at best giving only a placebo effect. People BELIEVE that they are helping so feel better. Get your nutrients by eating nutritious food!

JeremyJL,
Supplements do help and I'm taking stuff that I once purchased as a customer now I sell but the real key to improving your sugar is don't eat process foods that is a start. Eat a lot of greens and fruit. For Breakfast make a shake for yourself for instance take a blender and some spinach, Strawberries, Blue Berries & Banana with Water and mix it all natural. For Lunch make a chicken breast and eat some broccoli and eat an Apple is you get tired. For dinner make a spinach salad with peas, corn, beats, little oil no salad dressing and eat that have as much as you want. Stay away from processed foods and trust me you will start burning fat drink a lot of water and stay away from coffee and soda. |
