Default Newly Diagnosed

I was diagnosed with Diabetes on Friday by my doctor who prescribed me Metaformin. He also recommended that if I didn't feel good to go to ER so they can test for kito acidosis- went to ER and was admitted for ketoacidosis. It is now Sunday- I injected myself with an insulin pen and syringe today for the first time. Even though the ketoacidosis wasn't good, I have got a good start to managing my diabetes in the hospital. I have met with an edocrinologist who is finding out the type of diabetes and a nutritionist. Today I will see a diabetes educator. I feel so relieved to know why I have felt awful and lost so much weight in the last couple of months. It's good to feel better.

I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Heed the advice of the Endocrinologist and the Diabetes Educator, they will start you on the correct path. Learn well and test often. Good luck with your control and management.

Ask lots of questions!! Write them down. You may seem annoying to the doctors but it's for your own good. Trust me
