Default Walmart N vs levemir

Dr switched me to Levemir a month ago - I'm having to take twice as much now to keep bg at acceptable levels. Insurance now pays but WTF? From 90 to 180u a day? Anyone else ever see this?

It is common for different manufacturers of insulin and other drugs to vary the dose to quite an extent. If it works and you are covered by your insurance I would not worry about it too much.

I usually take Lantus. The first week of Dec,I went to have it refilled.was told I was in the donut hole and would have a $175.00 copay. Couldn't afford this, so a friend gave me 2 Levamir pens to use till Jan 1. My sugar went up 30 to 40 points the whole time I was on the Levemir. Sugar immediately went back down when I started using the Lantus again. I was told by my doc that they both do the same thing. Well, that is not true!
