Hi. I'm 69 and have type one diabetes due to removal of my pancreas one and a half years ago for cancer. I am on Lantus twice daily and Humalog six times a day. I have to check my blood sugar at least six times a day. I'm not sure how I feel about it but it beats the alternative.

After posting that I'm a newbie with type one diabetes just a few minutes ago my husband called me from the doctors office and he has just been diagnosed as type two diabetes with an A1 C of 7.4. They put him on metformin twice daily and some form of insulin pill once daily. I'm I will learn more later when he gets home from work. It never rains but it pours.

Welcome to the Forum!

Read through the first three thread in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance. This information will be good for the both of you. Good luck with your control and management to you both.
