I have been reading Dr. Neil Barnard's book on Reversing Diabetes. I know that is slim having type 1, but I am trying to use less insulin, maintain exercise with energy and feel better. Do much is written about the " protein". I do not eat any meat, dairy or eggs. I teach group exercise and I am very active. It is hard to find a nutritionist to advise a type 1. They look at you like you 10 heads

Hi!
I've been a vegetarian for 4 years now. I do eat eggs, but most of my protein comes from legumes, nuts and soy! It's also important to combine incomplete protein sources such as whole grains and beans together in order to make them complete protein sources! |

Hey! I'm also a vegetarian and have MODY.
Have you read the China Study as well? You might get some insight on protein there, and some plant based suggestions. Dark leafy greens have sufficient protein and quinoa is a wonderful, versatile food with complete protein too! |

Hello!i became a vegetarian when I was in kindergarten, 21 years ago. I became a type1 diabetic five and a half years ago at 20 years old. Four years later I became a vegan. Protein, I have found tofu helps with my sugar the most. If I just ate a bowl of tofu I would be in great shape. Of course different things work for different people. I am not a dietician, I am just sharing my opinion on what works for me.
