MedicineNet.com says it should be less than 160 two hours after a meal.

I try to keep the spike at under 140 after ONE hour. If you can do that you're as on top of it as a pancreas normally is. You don't want to get over 180, period. Read your gl before making a change, eating, after 1 hour and after 2 hours. Lots of strips, but as you adjust your basal and rapid insulin you'll find the sweet spot. An a1c of 6 is a good goal.

I wouldn't worry too much about measuring levels too much unless you are using tablets such as glicazide or insulin to control your levels. If you are using diet or metformin then follow the advice given by your diabetes team and wait for your next a1c test

I read a couple of tips that have worked fabulously for me, a type2 for 15 years with a recent A1C of 8.2.(thanks to a month of two of loss of control on diet and missed medication owing to some other events running my life). I was advised to 1) have some'acid" before meal say tomatoes or salad with a squeeze of lime or vinegar 2) have a mild exercise after every meal say 10-15 minutes if walk. I began doing this in addition to a huge reduction of carbs, switching to huge portions of green salads at lunch and dinner.A month back my post BF BG number was ranging above 160 sometimes reaching beyond 200. Now, hold your breath,I am under 150 all the time repeat all the time, average somewhere near 135! I can't say if it had to do with low carbs or exercise or acid but I can do some controlled experiments on myself after I get to a ~6 A1C first, which I think is possible for me in the next 4 weeks!
