Default Upset but coping

Good day to all.
I am here because, like most of you, I need to understand - therefore educate myself.
Just a little over a month ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 ... a bomb shell to me! It took me days to accept it because I don't fit the norms. I've had a healthy diet most of my life, there is no family history and my weight is in the normal range for my height... so go and figure!?
How long I've had the problem is another one of my questions. I just went to a new doctor (the other one moved away) and she is the one who asked for a blood test and alerted me... etc. I decided to go to the clinic where the previous doctor used to have her practice to request a copy of any blood test I had done in the past - and guess what!!! My fasting blood sugar was already at 7.2mmo three years ago and that doctor didn't tell me or do a thing about it!!! Grrrrrr

Anyway... here I am, reading, and hopefully I will make some sense out of all this. I have decided to try a dietary change to start, together with Chinese medicine that helps liver and kidney function. So far so good, the average over the past week is 6.9mmo.

Thanks for all the information
All the best

Welcome to the Forum!

Take a look at Type 1.5 Diabetes.

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.

Thanks Danny for the link. I'll have to ask my doctor to tell me more about it and may be do additional tests.
Also, thanks for your well wishes... we all need tons of those
