Welcome to the Forum!

I am sorry to hear of your son's diagnosis. I have been where you are at this moment. First try to remain calm, it will get easier. Read through some of the posts in the "Parents of Children with Diabetes" Section. Do the research on your child's condition and don't rely on the doctor to tell you everything. Most times they don't have the time to educate you on everything you need to know. Schedule an appointment with a Diabetes Educator. Get involved - look for a Diabetes Support group in your area. Learn to count carbs and teach your child as well. Test often! Use the Rule of 15 for lows. Always carry 15 carb snacks and always be prepared. Most of all, instill in your child that they can do anything that anyone else can do and get your child involved as well. Good luck! If you have questions, just ask.
